It asks about a personally meaningful food practice, including where it was learned, when it is used, how often it happens, what has changed, and what it means to the respondent. ### Should this survey ask about ethnicity or religion? Usually not. Begin with the food practice itself. Add sensitive identity questions only when the purpose requires them, explain why they are needed, make them optional, and review the project with the appropriate people. ### Can these answers represent a whole culture? No. Each response describes one person's experience. Report patterns as patterns in your respondents and preserve differences rather than presenting one account as typical of everyone.
