Name the place and recall period, and describe its actual access arrangements without labeling every feature 'autism-friendly.' Do not ask for evidence of diagnosis. Explain who will read comments and avoid unnecessary personal data, using the principles for [sensitive questions ](https://www.surveylegend.com/survey-questions/sensitive-survey-questions/). Offer another feedback format; the online route is itself part of access. ## When to Ask Invite responses soon after a visit or abandoned attempt, and make the invitation available before entry as well as at the exit. Collecting feedback only from people who completed a visit would omit some of the most relevant access barriers. ## How to Use the Responses Keep completed, shortened and abandoned visits separate. Check whether a barrier arose from missing information, the environment itself, or difficulty finding assistance. 'Did not need a quiet place' is not evidence that the venue lacks demand for one. Discuss suggested changes with autistic adults and the venue team, then test a specific change. Responses cannot certify accessibility or describe every autistic person's preferences. ## What the Research Adds Fletcher’s 2025 doctoral thesis reports surveys involving 466 autistic and neurodivergent people and 130 museum workers. Its abstract identifies barriers including “the sensory environment and lack of understanding of neurodiversity.” Read the [museum accessibility thesis ](https://theses.gla.ac.uk/85238/). This supports asking adults directly about access conditions and involving them in revisions. The thesis concerns museums; adapting these questions to another venue requires local review, and the questionnaire is not an autism assessment. ## Frequently asked questions ### Does this survey identify autism? No. It is voluntary venue feedback for autistic adults and contains no diagnostic questions or score. ### Can people answer if they did not enter the venue? Yes. The first question includes abandoned visits, and later items offer appropriate non-entry options. Their access experience matters. ### Can one set of answers define an autism-friendly venue? No. Preferences and needs vary.
