# Adding conditions to sub-questions

Some question types can consist of several sub-questions. Rating questions, Likert Scale questions, and Multiple Text Box questions are common examples.

When you add a logic rule for a question with sub-questions, SurveyLegend first asks which sub-question condition should be used. Then you choose the actual condition for the selected sub-questions.

**Sub-question condition example**

1. IF answer to the following question

   How likely are you to own the following pets again?

   and any of the selected sub-questions below

   - Dog
   - Cat
   - Hamster
   - Fish

2. THEN show Follow-up question about the selected pet

For questions with sub-questions, the rule can target one selected item, any selected item, or all selected items depending on the condition.
