# What is a survey logic flow

A logic flow is a set of one or more rules that you design for your survey, form, or questionnaire. Generally speaking, these rules define what should happen under special circumstances.

For example, if you create a health survey which includes gender-specific questions, you can design a logic flow that automatically hides questions that are relevant only for another respondent group.

Logic flows always start with an IF section where you define rules, and a THEN section where you define the consequences.

## What is a logic flow made of

A logic flow has two major sections: IF and THEN. The IF part defines the conditions required for an action to happen. The THEN part defines the action that should happen as a result.

**Health survey logic**

1. IF answer to the following question

   What is your gender?

   is any of the following

   - Male
   - Female
   - N/A

2. THEN hide Page with questions for another respondent group

In this example, when the IF condition is met, the THEN consequence changes which part of the survey the respondent sees.
