This home buyer feedback survey collects opinions after a specific property viewing. Ask about layout, the information provided, unmet needs, and what the buyer would like to do next.

A buyer can like a property's appearance and still leave without knowing whether the layout fits everyday life. This SurveyLegend questionnaire helps agents separate those reactions. Use the answers to clarify missing information, plan a useful follow-up, and improve the next viewing.

When to use this survey

Send the questionnaire soon after a viewing, naming the property and how it was shown. Keep one property per response. The questions cover the buyer's experience and preferences; a completed response is neither an offer nor a property inspection. For questions to ask before selecting properties to show, explore SurveyLegend's real estate surveys article.

7 questions for your home buyer feedback survey

Customize your home buyer feedback survey

Use a listing reference so every answer concerns the same property. Keep the viewing-method question when comparing in-person visits with virtual materials: those experiences provide different information. Replace jargon with the terms used in the listing, and avoid leading questions such as asking how much the buyer loved a room. Keep financing, identity checks, and formal transaction instructions in their appropriate processes.

Offer the same seven questions on paper after the viewing. Add the listing reference and a clear return method. Review returned forms separately before combining comparable feedback; paper answers are not automatically added to the online survey.

How to use the answers

Read layout responses alongside the viewing method. If people who saw photos cannot assess the layout, better dimensions or a clearer floor plan may be more useful than changing the viewing script. Group clarification requests by the actual issue, then check the underlying facts before responding. Summarize unmet needs and viewing improvements separately. A preferred next step is a follow-up cue, not proof of purchase intent or evidence of the property's value.

In the abstract of their 2023 study, Jacqueline Baker and Harmen Oppewal describe “417 student respondents” evaluating hypothetical apartments. Their apartment preference study found that representation format affected stated preferences. That supports recording how a property was presented before comparing feedback. The research concerned hypothetical build-to-rent apartments, not completed home purchases, and it does not validate these original questions.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a property inspection survey?

No. It collects a prospective buyer's opinions after viewing. It does not assess building condition, establish boundaries, or replace a qualified inspection.

Should every buyer receive the same questions?

Use the same core questions for comparable feedback, while identifying the property and viewing method. Keep the option to say that the layout could not be assessed.

Can an answer count as an offer?

No. The next-step question records a preference for follow-up. Use the appropriate separate process for any formal offer or transaction instruction.
