This cruise survey template collects passenger feedback on a completed voyage, including boarding, the cabin, dining, and departure. Use the answers to identify which part of the trip needs closer review.

A relaxing week at sea can still begin with confusing boarding instructions or end with a difficult departure. This questionnaire keeps those stages separate. SurveyLegend helps you adapt the questions to a specific voyage so the service team receives feedback it can act on.

When to use this survey

Send the survey after adult passengers have disembarked from an overnight cruise. Identify the ship and sailing dates in the introduction, without asking respondents to supply booking details. Use a different version for a short sightseeing boat ride, where cabins and onboard dining may not apply.

7 questions for your cruise survey

Customize your cruise survey

Name one sailing so comments about different ships or seasons are not mixed. If the operator did not arrange excursions, remove that option before launch and update every version of the questionnaire. Keep changes neutral: SurveyLegend's article on leading questions explains why wording should not assume a wonderful trip. Tell passengers where to direct an unresolved individual service request; a feedback survey should not imply immediate case handling.

Printable cruise survey

Offer the printable questionnaire through an agreed post-voyage return process for passengers who prefer paper. If it is distributed before departure, explain that the disembarkation item should be completed afterward or skipped. Paper answers require a separate review or controlled entry process.

How to use the answers

Compare the overall rating with boarding and departure ease before looking at cabin and dining ratings. Keep “not sure” and unused-service answers outside satisfaction percentages, and state each denominator. Read the selected priority alongside its comment; a dining complaint about opening hours calls for a different review from one about choice. Organize open-ended data by the service area and requested change, without presenting isolated accounts as the experience of every passenger. Compare sailings only when routes, conditions, invitation timing and respondent mix are understood.

Research connection: Saydam’s 2021 doctoral thesis analyzed voluntarily submitted reviews of eight cruise ships. Its abstract identifies “embarkation” and “disembarkation” among the themes in passenger narratives. This cruise service study supports looking beyond the onboard experience when designing feedback. SurveyLegend applies that idea with separate boarding and departure questions. Online reviewers are a self-selected group, and the thesis does not establish current performance for your ship or validate these original questions.

Frequently asked questions

When should passengers answer?

After disembarkation, so they can comment on the whole journey. Keep invitation timing reasonably consistent across sailings and record the period used.

Can the survey identify the best cruise ship?

No. It supports service review for the identified voyage. Comparing ships requires a suitable sample and attention to route, price, travel conditions and who responded.

Should passengers report private booking issues here?

Use the operator's established service channel for issues requiring a booking record. Keep this feedback survey focused on the experience and avoid collecting sensitive travel details.
