Product Feature Survey Template
This product feature survey template asks current users how they used a named feature during the past month, which task it supports, and where it falls short. Use their answers to investigate an improvement priority before changing your product roadmap.
Use this product feature survey template to understand what a specific capability helps people do and where it falls short. It connects feature use and task importance with a single improvement priority. Build your survey in SurveyLegend to investigate a roadmap decision without assuming that every requested addition deserves to be built.
When to use this product feature survey
Ask current users about one clearly named feature, such as shared scheduling or report filtering. Include people who rarely use it: their reasons may reveal poor relevance, discoverability, or a different workflow. This template studies an existing capability. If the feature is still an idea, present it as a concept rather than implying respondents have used it.

How to customize your product feature survey
Use the same feature name and short neutral description throughout. Define what counts as using it during the previous month. If you extend the form to several features, give each one its own block and avoid a long repetitive list. Do not combine importance and satisfaction in one question. For example, a rarely used export feature can still be essential at month-end, so frequency alone should not decide its priority. Before sharing widely, try the questions with a few people from the intended audience and clarify anything they interpret differently.
Printable product feature survey template
Use this printable product feature survey template during a customer product review. It includes the same questions and space to write, giving people who prefer paper or are less comfortable online another way to take part. SurveyLegend helps you offer both formats. Tell respondents where to return the completed form and who will review it. Paper answers need a separate review or manual entry process; they are not automatically added to online responses.

Assess feature importance in the context of a real task
Compare frequency, task importance, and how well the feature supports that task. An important capability that performs poorly may warrant investigation even if few respondents use it daily. Read nonuse reasons separately from improvement requests by active users. Use the first-priority answer to organize follow-up research, then weigh the findings against feasibility and product strategy. Do not describe a voluntary survey as a representative roadmap vote.
Frequently asked questions
Should I ask about every feature at once?
Usually focus on the decision you need to make. A long list can produce shallow answers. Test a smaller set or use separate versions when audiences use different capabilities.
Does low usage mean we should remove a feature?
Not necessarily. Some features are infrequent but essential. Read the task-importance answer and understand the workflow before making that decision.
Can customers decide our roadmap with this survey?
They can provide evidence about needs and friction. Your team still needs to assess feasibility, dependencies, and product direction before committing to changes.
