This exhibitor survey asks participating organizations about their main goal, setup experience, visitor fit, and organizer support after a trade show. Use it to improve exhibitor services while keeping perceived results separate from proven return on investment.

A busy booth does not tell you whether an exhibitor met the right people. This SurveyLegend template starts with the exhibitor's main goal, then asks about the conditions around it. That makes a networking-focused response easier to interpret than an isolated satisfaction rating.

When to use this survey

Send the survey after the event's setup, open hours and breakdown have finished. Ask one representative to coordinate an answer for each exhibitor organization, or clearly define a staff-level study instead. This version is for exhibitors; visitor feedback should be collected separately because visitors experience a different service.

Customize your exhibitor survey

Use the event's actual terminology for exhibitors, stands or booths. Keep the main-goal question even if most exhibitors sell, because some attend for research or partnerships. Avoid leading questions such as “How successful was your profitable exhibition?” Retain “too early to tell” for outcomes that need follow-up after the show.

How to use the answers

Compare goal support and visitor fit within the main-goal groups where response counts permit. Do not compare a brand-awareness exhibitor with a sales-focused exhibitor as if their desired results were identical. Separate pre-event instructions from onsite support, and read suggested improvements as open-ended data . A low visitor-fit response is a reason to investigate audience targeting, not proof that organizer recruitment alone caused the outcome. Share specific planned improvements, and use a separate later evaluation if actual commercial results are needed.

Research connection: Lin, Jiang, and Kerstetter (2018; first published online in 2015) distinguish “visitors, exhibitors, and organizers” in their trade-show framework abstract. Their trade-show evaluation study considers these different relationships in performance evaluation. SurveyLegend applies the distinction by separating visitor fit, organizer support and perceived goal progress. This original questionnaire does not reproduce the tested framework’s scale or inherit its validation, and the responses do not calculate ROI.

Frequently asked questions

Should every booth staff member answer?

For this organization-level version, ask one person to coordinate the response. A staff-level study can also be useful, but it needs a clear unit of analysis so large teams do not count as many separate exhibitors.

Can it calculate event ROI?

No. It asks about perceived goal progress and service experience. Financial ROI requires relevant costs, attributable outcomes and a suitable follow-up period.

Why separate visitor fit from visitor numbers?

A high volume of visitors may not match an exhibitor's goal. This questionnaire asks about fit; it does not verify footfall or qualified-lead counts.
