This post-conference survey template asks attendees what they learned, which sessions fit their goals, and what they plan to try next. Use the answers to improve a named conference and prepare useful follow-up.

An attendee can enjoy a conference without finding material they can apply. This SurveyLegend questionnaire separates session relevance from possible next steps and asks how organizers could support continued learning.

When to use this template

Send it to actual attendees soon after the conference and name the event. If you need a general review of venue and logistics, use the post-event survey . This version centers learning, professional connections and follow-up.

Customize your post-conference survey

Name the conference and define the eligible attendance window. Keep the did-not-attend and not-applicable options so people do not rate sessions they missed. If several tracks were offered, add an optional track item before comparisons. Do not infer measured skills or actual later use from an immediate self-report.

Provide the same blank questionnaire as attendees leave or in a follow-up mailing with a private return route. State that paper responses require manual entry and keep contact lists separate from anonymous feedback if anonymity is promised.

How to use the answers

Compare attendance goals, session relevance and specific next steps. Group open-ended data by topic, follow-up resource and connection request. The likelihood question measures intention, not whether someone later applied the material; a later follow-up would be needed to investigate use.

Andersen and Wahlgren’s 2015 research on four conferences found that “satisfaction is a weak indicator for learning and transfer”. The conference evaluation study supports asking about session relevance and prospective application separately from general enjoyment. Its specific evaluation model is not reproduced here; these original questions are not a validated transfer measure.

Frequently asked questions

Can this replace a general event satisfaction form?

It focuses on conference learning, connections and follow-up. A general event form can cover the venue, food or registration separately.

Does the survey prove attendees learned a new skill?

No. It asks for perceived learning and planned use. Skills and later application need appropriate follow-up evidence.

When should it be shared?

Send it while the event is easy to recall. Name the specific conference and let attendees skip questions about sessions they did not join.
