Give fans a quick pre-match ballot for one football game: result, score range, half-time, both teams scoring and confidence. Create your version in SurveyLegend.

One match, one clear deadline

Write the fixture's home team, away team, kick-off and collection deadline above the questions. A prediction only means something as a pre-match guess when it is collected before play. This example is a fan activity, not a betting service or reliable forecast.

When to use this game day poll

Use this before a watch party, supporter event or club newsletter discussion. Close responses before kick-off if the host plans to compare guesses with the final score. SurveyLegend's all-star voting page selects eligible players; this ballot predicts one game outcome. For attendance, refreshments and accessibility decisions instead, use the event planning survey.

7 pre-match prediction questions

Think about the named football match before kick-off. Choose one option for each prediction, or skip any question. All seven questions are optional. Home and away refer to the teams identified by the organizer.

Set up a fair fan activity

Give every participant the same named fixture and a clear closing time. The 4-or-more choice is a range, so it cannot distinguish exact scores above three. If exact-score prizes or ties matter, replace the two goal choices with clearly validated number fields and publish rules separately before entry; this example has no prize system. Do not mix guesses made before and after kick-off. Tell fans how and when a result, if any, will be shared.

Compare guesses after the match

Count home, draw and away guesses, then compare them with the final result. Treat the two 4-or-more bands as ranges, not exact scores. Read confidence separately from accuracy: a highly confident guess can still be wrong. Madsen's 2025 study asked participants to forecast English Premier League matches and compared crowd estimates with outcomes. Its abstract reports that “collective crowd predictions outperform individual estimates consistently.” Read the study . This one-season research used specific participants and analyses; an event ballot with a self-selected fan group is not a validated forecast or a basis for betting. Publish only actual collected totals, and label the comparison as a fun event result.

Frequently asked questions

Can this predict who will win?

It records fan guesses for one fixture. The results describe this responding group and cannot guarantee or reliably forecast the match outcome.

What if the game ends in a draw?

The first and fourth questions include draw. Keep the named fixture's rules in mind if extra time or penalties follow; this example means regulation-time results unless the organizer clearly changes the wording.

Does this template run a prize contest?

No. It has no eligibility checks, tie-break mechanism or prize administration. If a host offers a prize, set and review separate rules before collecting entries.
