Evaluate the Process After a Role Closes

Invite the hiring team after a specific role is filled or the search ends. Name the role family and recruitment period, but do not put candidates' names or personal information into this questionnaire. Ask each participant to answer based on the stages they observed. This is a process retrospective, not a candidate scorecard or a substitute for an applicant's perspective.

Why Ask About Interview Structure

In an original study of 79 HR managers, van Oudenhoven-van der Zee, Bakker and Bakker (2002) found stronger intentions toward unstructured interviewing than structured interviewing in the scenarios they examined. Their university abstract says managers' own practices “appeared to be rather unstructured.” Read the interview research . The finding makes consistency worth checking, but it does not prove this seven-question form will improve hiring or validate any rating it collects.

7 Recruitment Evaluation Survey Questions

All seven questions are optional and always visible. Use the same completed hiring cycle throughout. Do not collect identifiable candidate information in free text.

Fit the Questions to Your Hiring Stages

Replace stage labels with the actual sequence used for this role and define “agreed criteria” by the job-related criteria set before review. Invite recruiters, hiring managers and interviewers separately if their tasks differ. For what applicants experienced, use SurveyLegend's candidate experience template; this one asks the hiring team about internal process execution.

Choose One Process Fix to Test

Review delays alongside criterion clarity, interview consistency, evidence recording and ownership of updates. If delays cluster at scheduling while criteria are clear, adding another interview rubric may not solve the bottleneck. If criteria or records are unclear, agree the job-related requirements before the next search and check whether the step was completed. Compare internal reports with applicants' voluntary feedback where appropriate; do not infer candidate experience from a hiring-team survey. The candidate evaluation form has a separate purpose: recording evidence about one candidate against a predefined requirement.

Frequently asked questions

When should the team complete this survey?

Soon after a role closes, while stage details are still available. Identify the role family and period, then keep individual candidate data out of responses.

Can the results rank interviewers or candidates?

No. The questions concern how a hiring process worked. They are not individual performance ratings or validated selection measures.

Does a consistent process guarantee fair hiring?

No. Consistency is one process feature. Review job relevance, accessibility, local requirements and outcomes separately with qualified people.
