This career day feedback survey asks attendees which employers and roles matched their interests, whether conversations were useful, and what they still need to take a next step.

An event can run smoothly and still miss the jobs people came to explore. SurveyLegend gives career services and recruiters a focused way to hear what happened at the tables, not just at check-in.

When to use this template

Invite adult attendees soon after one named career day. Use the post-event survey for venue and overall event feedback; this questionnaire examines employer fit, conversations and career follow-up. Participation should not affect an application.

7 career day feedback survey questions

Think about the career day you just attended. Choose the answer that fits your experience. Skip any question you cannot judge. Do not name individual recruiters or include private application details.

Customize your career day feedback survey

Name the event, audience and date. If participants are minors, obtain the organizer’s appropriate review before collecting responses. Keep employer names optional and compare feedback with the actual employer list. Use the event planning template when choosing dates and format before the next event.

Provide the same seven optional questions on a paper card at the exit table. Explain where cards go and who will review them; paper answers need separate entry and are not automatically added to online replies.

How to use the answers

Count employer-fit answers alongside actual attendee exposure. Look at unmet fields and unclear next steps before inviting more of the same employers. Share an action such as adding internship tables or a short follow-up guide. A voluntary sample cannot represent every attendee.

Milman and colleagues surveyed 123 students after a hospitality college career fair. The university-hosted abstract says attendees wanted “more available jobs that appeal to them” and greater variety in industry representation. This suggests asking about employer and role fit, while this broader, original questionnaire has not been validated by that study. Source: Milman et al. (2014) .

Frequently asked questions

When should I send it?

Invite attendees shortly after the event while conversations are fresh, and state which career day they should consider.

Can this score individual employers?

No. It explores visitor experience and broad fit, not recruiter performance or hiring outcomes.

What about people who visited no tables?

Retain the no-visit option and analyze those answers separately; they may reveal an access or navigation problem.
