survey feature- Smart field: EmailSmart field: Email

The Email smart field is designed for those that want to keep in contact with survey participants. You may want to send them the results of your survey; or perhaps you want to collect this data to identify your participants, keep them posted with news and updates, or send them rewards for completing your survey.

The email smart field helps you make sure that less motivated participants don’t just type random letters as a response. Also it helps participants avoid and correct typos. For example, if they type my-email@gmailcom (which means they have forgotten to type the dot before “com”), the survey gives them clear visual feedback.

In this way, only emails which are entered correctly will pass verification, and therefore, you ensure the quality of the collected results.

Tip:
When you export your collected data, you can easily extract the email addresses from the downloaded Excel file, to help you create the perfect target group for your next surveys. Make sure that you ask for their permission before collecting their data. Also, be careful when you share the data with other parties. Emails are sensitive personal information and people won’t like it if you publish them publicly or share them with others. They trust you when giving you their email, and you should respect their trust. Additionally, when sending further surveys to your target audience, make sure your emails won’t get trapped in spam folders. You can easily apply some practices to send spam-proof survey invitations via email.
Note:
SurveyLegend can verify other types of data provided by your survey participants, before they submit their surveys. For instance, it can count the number of words, characters, or numbers; it can differentiate between character inputs and word inputs; it can check if the provided text is a name; and it can make sure that respondents won’t leave a survey field unanswered before they submit it.

Settings

After adding an email question type to your form, click or tap on it to activate the Edit Mode and access the settings panel. You can easily customize the smart email question. Email question offers the following customization possibilities:

By enabling this settings, you will demand the respondents to answer this question. This means when this setting is ON, respondents have to provide their email address correctly, to be able to continue to the next page of your survey, or submit it. If they don’t fill in their email address correctly, we will visually notify them that they cannot continue to next page or submit the survey, before answering the question. Read more about when you ‘should’ or ‘should not’ require respondents to answer questions in your online questionnaires.

Enabling this setting will allow you to add a large, edge-to-edge image right under the question. If your question needs further explanation using a picture or illustration, you can easily upload it here. Read more about best practices of adding pictures to survey questions.

Additionally, you can add a custom link to the picture after you upload one. Linked images can act as banners, helping you promote something or add incentives for your respondents to finish a survey. They can also help you create download links, or lead users to other pages or your other surveys. Read more about adding links pictures in your survey.
There is a lot you can do, using pictures in your forms. See examples of what you can do with pictures in your suveys of forms.

Sometimes you may need to explain further, or add tips or instructions for your respondents. Enabling this feature will activate an extra text box in which you can type these instructions. By default, these additional instructions appear as a little button with a question mark inside them, right under the question. When clicked, they expand and show your additional text.

Instead, if you prefer to constantly display this text, please activate “Always visible instructions” option. This will directly display the additional instructions under the question, and respondents do not have to manually click on it to display it.
